The new, sustainable fibers from Dyneema® are the first-ever bio-based HMPE fibers guaranteeing responsible sourcing of raw materials without making any compromises in performance. Extracted from wood, the Dyneema® bio-based raw material originates from sustainably managed and FSC and PEFC certified forests through a process that involves the collection of crude tall oil (CTO), a residue from wood pulp production. The provision of the bio-based material occurs via a so-called mass balance approach within an ISCC Certified value chain. The fibre is certified in accordance with the International Sustainability & Carbon Certification standards to ensure full compliance and traceability. Black Rope’s partner DSR have already opted for  HMPE mooring ropes SuperMax with the Dyneema® bio-based fibers.

The Anti Snap Back (ASB) is an energy absorbing core, which sits within our mooring ropes and is a twelve-strand, plaited, mixed, polypropylene or HMPE rope. Owing to its rope-like form, held within the heart of a twelve-strand mooring line, if the outer, load-bearing construction breaks, the ASB absorbs the snap-back forces, transforming them from a potentially deadly snap to a much safer slump.
